Hello Kpopeurope readers! Recently we were able to get a hold of LC9 and ask them some of the questions that you sent us. LC9 (League of Competition #9) is a new South Korean boy group with six members, formed by Nega Network. The members are: Rasa, Eden, J-Hyo, King, Jun, and AO. They debuted in May 2013 with a mini album called Skirmish, and the song MaMa Beat, and they are quickly rising in popularity.

Kpopeurope: Hi LC9, How long have you been practising together?
RASA: Hi Kpopeurope! Well, we didn’t all start training at the same time and the number of years spent practising differs for everyone. J-HYO and I have been practising together for four years, KING and EDEN for three years, and it has been a little more than a year for AO and JUN.
Kpopeurope: The music video of your title song, MaMa Beat, was rated 19+. Was there any specific reason for this mature concept?
KING: We originally wanted to make a music video based on superheroes. The video was supposed to be six minutes long but we had to trim it down to three minutes. In that process, the parts that explained the storyline were cut out and the fighting scenes unintentionally got the main focus. We know that there are some misunderstandings surrounding the concept and it really is a shame since we tried our best to convey the message while filming the MV.
J-HYO: Haha. To be honest, we didn’t practise that much, but I think we were able to pick up the song easily because of our style.
Kpopeurope: How did you come up with the idea for the MaMa Beat MV?
JUN: The Creative Director gave us the script and the Martial Art Director prepared the fighting scenes. We only remember practising a lot to perfect it within a short period.
Kpopeurope: There are already many LC9 fans in Europe. If you could pick one country in Europe, which country would you visit first?
EDEN: Hmm… Italy would be our first destination. We are all pretty interested in fashion.
Kpopeurope: If you could have a collaboration stage with any idol group, which group would you pick?
AO: It would be great to collaborate with Brown Eyed Girls for our first joined stage. I think that there are quite a lot of things we can learn from them and we’re sure that they will be very supportive and loving mentors!
KING: Our style won’t change any time soon. Since we are still new, we want to focus on showing one consistent style. But we want to have a shot at changing our style later, and maybe do something calmer like singing acoustic songs.
Kpopeurope: Thank you guys for letting us interview you on behalf of the Kpopeurope community. We hope to hear and see more of you guys. As a last request, can you guys say “Kpopeurope 여러분 사랑해요” in the European language you are most comfortable with?
RASA: Je t’aime.
J-HYO: Ich liebe dich.
EDEN: Kpopeurope readers, I love you!!
