Looking back on 2013 we can see a lot of highlights for one of the most famous K-pop groups on this planet: For 2NE1 it was a year full of new amazing singles and interviews. In addition, for CL it was the year of her solo debut.
First in February 2013, CL revealed in a Billboard interview that the group would come back in April 2013. In the meantime, in March 2013, 2NE1 released full version of „Take The World One”, which was created in collaboration with the singer will.i.am.. The girls were also interviewed by the Elle magazine in which CL said that their group wanted to create more songs in English. The April 2013 came and 2NE1 didn’t release any new songs but after one month on May 28th 2013, CL debuted with her own single „The Baddest Female”.
Only on July 8th, the girls released „Falling In Love”, which became the group’s ninth number one single on the Gaon Singles Chart. More singles were released and they included titles like, “Do You Love Me”, which came out on August 7 and “Missing You” on November 21. “Missing You” also got the top of the Gaon Singles Chart, which marked 2NE1’s 10th number – one single. So it took some time but it was definitely worth waiting for the new 2NE1’s singles.
What happened in the new year so far and what will 2014 bring for 2NE1? At the begining of January the four girls ranked on 4th place among artists who released the most singles in the last 10 years. In the middle of January they were interviewed by Fuse News which asked them why they haven’t released a new album yet, since it had been nearly 5 years. 2NE1 said that they prefered releasing singles over an album, because singles have their concept, MVs and messages. After that, 2NE1 confirmed the 2nd World Tour which is set to begin on March 1st in Seoul, South Korea and will later have stops in China, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, Malaysia and Indonesia. As we could find out so far, more countries will be announced later! The girls are also considering releasing an album bearing the same name as their “AON: All Or Nothing” tour. Let’s hope that they are producing their next album fast and that they also come to Europe this year!
Let’s assume that we can choose our own European 2NE1 concert! Which city would you prefer to go to a 2NE1 concert in Europe?
