After starting off with hip hop artist Zion.T last week, it is now time to dedicate ourselves to idol group VIXX. With their popularity rising each day, these young men have already established their own global fan base – here’s a little introduction to the guys that make their Starlights’, their official fan club members, hearts beat faster.
First of all, who are VIXX? Jellyfish Entertainment, originally known for having ballad singers such as Sung Shi Kyung or Park Hyo Shin, have taken it upon themselves to release a boy group consisting of six members – leader N, lead singers Leo and Ken, rapper Ravi, sub-vocal Hongbin and dancer Hyuk. Through the TV program “MyDol”, ten trainees competed to be part of the final line-up, the result of which we see today. However, not only the members of the group, also their name was decided upon.
But what does this name that everybody voted for mean? “VIX” stands for “Voice, Visual, Value In Excelsis”, representing their strive to be the best at what they do. The additional X was added to make the name more visually appealing. After their formation, they debuted with the track “Super Hero” in May 2012. Ever since then, their image has undergone some drastic change as they have gone from bubbly and colorful super heroes to dark and mysterious voodoo dolls as we can see in their latest music video, released last November. For an introduction to some of their songs, look forward to our article a little later this week!
Every group needs a mascot and so does VIXX! Their cute little friend Rovix follows the guys around wherever they go – although rumor has it that leader N likes to hack into Rovix’ Twitter account to post undercover messages himself. These boys take communication with their fans in general very serious. Shortly after their debut, they started a project called “VIXX TV”, which has them uploading a video to greet fans and keep them updated every week. Through these clips, not only can they show themselves to their fans but it also lets them demonstrate their individual charms and energetic nature in opposition to their musical concepts.
