YG Entertainment recently updated Blackjacks through the agency’s official blog “YG Life”. In a statement, YG himself revealed that the ladies will release their follow-up single “DO YOU LOVE ME” on August 7.
Originally, the MV for “DO YOU LOVE ME” was scheduled to be directed by Seo Hyun-Seung, the famous director who was already responsible for CL’s “THE BADDEST FEMALE” or G-Dragon’s “Crayon”. However, due to some unforeseen developments, the MV shooting could not take place and was thus eventually called off.
As such an incident would result in a possible setback for all the upcoming and already announced comeback releases of 2NE1, the agency decided on a never seen and very unique promotion video concept:
The girls will be given old-style cameras, which they will use in order to film their very own MV. Together with some shoots from their personal mobile phones, the girls are therefore up to release a so called “home video”, which will be shown to the public on the 7th of August through 2NE1’s official Youtube channel.
Regarding the success of such an unequal concept, YG confidently stated, “We believe that this home video style can work, as it will show a natural and casual aspect of 2NE1.”
“DO YOU LOVE ME” itself was produced by none else than YG Entertainment’s famous in-house producer, Teddy, and is said to be as powerful and full of fierceness as “I Am The Best”, which was released back in 2011. It is therefore highly expected to continue the successful list of 2NE1’s outstanding summer songs, which have never failed to amaze the public.
“DO YOU LOVE ME” is the second single out of 2NE1’s monthly single-release-marathon and will be followed by two other releases in September and October respectively.
